- Girls' state cross country meet: Danville's Snapp breezes to titleFreshman 2nd fastest ever at Horse ParkThe number on Kaitlin Snapp's race bib — 123 — foretold what was to come Saturday in the girls' KHSAA State Cross Country Meet. The Danville freshman pulled away, easy as 1-2-3, to win her third individual Class A championship in a row, and her first as a high school student. Her time for 5,000 meters, 18 minutes, 25.51 seconds, was best of the day and second-fastest ever at the Kentucky Horse Park in a State finals. Sacred Heart's Emma Brink, who set the overall meet record of 18:20.52 last year, repeated as 3A champ. Jessie Murner of South Oldham prevailed in Class 2A. Rain, wind and temperatures in the 40s hurt times. Class A Just as happened last year, Snapp held off Owen County's Danielle Hoop. Snapp won by just over 10 seconds in 2007.
